Priority Council Districts

The Urban Republican Coalition, with the help of CWB Marketing Group, has researched voting trends in all fifty-one (51) city councilmanic districts to determine which ones are winnable, competitive and important in fielding republican candidates. The results determined that twenty-two (22) districts will respond positively to the Urban Republican Platform. Even if the Republican Party was to win every single one of these districts, the party would still be a minority in the city council (29 to 22). But this is New York City after all, and a Republican majority in the city council is unlikely. The Urban Republican Coalition is about electing as many Republicans as possible, so a fiscally conservative, reform-minded base is well represented in City Hall at an effective level.

  • Winnable Districts (W) are those districts where voters will elect a Republican candidate running on a winnable platform that resonates with the voters of the area.
  • Competitive Districts (C) are those districts the Republican Party should not pass over in an election cycle. Under the right circumstances, these districts could lead to victory.
  • Important districts (I) are those districts that should always have a republican candidate in an election cycle to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
